High triglycerides are a result of a high fat diet. Atherosclerosis or hardening of the arteries starts in childhood.

It's preventable and we need to prevent cardiovascular disease starting now. It is now recommended that children do lipid screening for nonfasting non-HDL cholesterol levels or a fasting lipid panel between the ages of nine and 11.

We offer baseline lipid testing and cardio genomics for children at Second Nature.

Boys are more likely to have higher cholesterol levels while girls are more likely to have lower HDL cholesterol. Hispanic children had higher triglyceride levels and lower HDL levels.

Protect your child against cardiovascular disease with a quality probiotic and with fish oil.

Probiotics support healthy bile metabolism, maintain normal cholesterol levels and reduce inflammation.

A quality probiotic is a must in the morning for children before school along with a teaspoon of EPA finest pure fish oil. I recommend Pharmax fish oil because it is certified gluten and dairy-free and is one of the few fish oils that is tested for radioactivity.  Pharmax is available in our virtual pharmacy at Emerson Ecologics.
