bioactive carbonsBioActive Carbons: High Energy Compounds for Detox and Vitality

BioActive Carbons are unique high energy compounds that come from deep within the Earth.  If you want optimal health, eating the right diet with nutrient-dense foods is absolutely essential to repair your tissues and gain the energy and vitality your desire.

However, food is unfortunately not enough to create ideal health. Our soils are depleted of minerals, nutrients, and beneficial microbes. Even organic whole foods are often grown in less than ideal soil. Moreover, toxins and pollutants in our environment may further risk your health.

Detoxification, mitochondrial support, and increased cellular energy are more important than ever for optimal health and well-being. BioActive Carbons may provide the solution and support you need to balance minerals in your body, detoxify your cells and tissues, penetrate and energize your cells, support your mitochondria, reduce oxidative stress, and improve your overall health.

In this article, you will learn what BioActive Carbons are, what they contain, the different sizes of BioActive Carbons, and their main benefits. You will also learn how to use BioActive Carbons. I will share the specific BioActive Carbons I recommend for whole body detoxification and cellular support.

bioactive carbons

What Are BioActive Carbons

BioActive Carbons are a form of carbon that helps to create and sustain life in a cell. You may not know this, but without BioActive Carbons, you wouldn’t even be alive, they are so important to nourish your body and create health.

BioActive Carbons are generated when important microbes decompose old plant matter and make it into nutrient-rich dirt and soil. BioActive Carbons contain two essential plant-based acid extracts: fulvic and humic acid.

Both of these compounds made up of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen. These are the exact same elements that also makeup nearly all of your body. Hence BioActive Carbons are very beneficial for your health. They may help your body to fight pathogens, improve its immune system, and improve your overall health (1).

BioActive Carbons

Fulvic Acids

Fulvic acids are natural compounds and organic acids that make up an element of the humus, which makes up part of the soil organic matter. They may be found in the soil, coal, peat, shilajit, lakes, streams, and other natural materials in nature and are yellow-brown in color (2, 3).

Fulvic acids are similar to humic acids, however, they have a different carbon and oxygen content, color, acidity, and weight. They contain a variety of essential minerals and trace minerals that are crucial for your health. They may benefit people with respiratory tract infection, heavy metal toxicity, fatigue, cancer, and brain disorders, such as Alzheimer’s disease (2, 4).

Humic Acids

Humic acids are also organic compounds that are found in the humus in soil, coal, peat, and other natural materials. They are very similar in molecular structure to fulvic acids, however, they differ in their chemical make-up (5).

Similarly to fulvic acids, humic acids are incredibly beneficial for your health and well-being. They are rich in important trace minerals that are crucial for bone development, healthy digestion, mental health, heart health, and other functions of your body. They may be used to help nutrient transport, alleviate symptoms of the common cold, aid thyroid health, better sleep, and improve your immune system.

BioActive Carbons

What Do BioActive Carbons Have In Them

BioActive Carbons hold the abundance of living nutrients. They contain an array of:

  • Amino acids
  • Minerals and trace elements (over 70 of them!)
  • Enzymes
  • Hormones
  • Natural antibiotics
  • Natural antivirals
  • Natural fungicides
  • Free radical fighting substances

All these nutrients are found in nano-sized particles that can easily move into your body’s cells to increase your body’s enzyme activity, combat pathogens, nourish your gut microbiome, and improve your health.

BioActive Carbons contain twelve important amino acids, including:

  • Alanine
  • Glutamic Acid
  • Glycine
  • Histidine
  • Isoleucine
  • Leucine
  • Methionine
  • Phenylalanine
  • Serinine
  • Threonine
  • Tryptophan
  • Valine

They also contain an extensive number of plant-derived, beneficial trace minerals, such as barium, boron, calcium, carbon, chloride, chromium, cobalt, copper, iodine, iron, magnesium, manganese, potassium, selenium, sodium, sulfur, and zinc.

BioActive Carbon Sizes

To become truly detoxifying or nourishing, a substance has to be able to get around your body easily to find its way everywhere it is needed. This is why BioActive Carbons are so unique.

They exist in a variety of sizes, including small, medium, and large chain carbon compounds, which allows them to make their way easily around the body everywhere they are needed. Each size has its specific benefits for your body. Let’s take a look at each of them.

Small Chain BioActive Carbon Compounds

Small chain BioActive Carbon compounds are able to enter practically any of your cells. They are even able to cross your blood-brain barrier and reach your brain. They may be able to clear away substances that are harmful to your brain, dismantle abnormal cell formations, and benefit the prevention and slow the progress of Alzheimer’s disease (6).

Medium Chain BioActive Carbon Compounds

Medium chain BioActive Carbon compounds are small enough to pass through your gut wall. They are able to enter tissues, such as your muscles, nerves, and bones. Hence, they may be able to create to impressive changes in your body, such as improving your gut health, boosting your metabolism, reducing toxicity, and reducing inflammation in your body (7, 8, 9).

Long Chain BioActive Carbon Compounds

Large chain BioActive Carbon compounds are too large to pass through your gut wall, enter tissues, or cross the blood-brain barrier, hence they remain in your digestive tract. Activated charcoal and bentonite clay are large carbon chain products that are commonly used to bind toxins and improve digestion troubles.

Long chain BioActive Carbon compounds are also unable to move beyond your digestive tract, however, they may lead to serious health improvements in your gut, and make a bigger difference than activated charcoal or bentonite clay can. The difference is that activated charcoal and bentonite clay are so-called ‘spent’ carbons that don’t support the repair of your tissue, while long chain BioActive Carbon compounds may support tissue repair at a certain level.

BioActive Carbons

BioActive Carbon Benefits

BioActive Carbons are incredibly important and beneficial for your health and well-being. They may balance minerals in your body, detoxify your cells and tissues, penetrate and energize your cells, support your mitochondria, and reduce oxidative stress. Let’s look at each benefit of BioActive Carbons one by one.

Balances Minerals

Having a healthy mineral balance in your body is absolutely crucial for your overall health and well-being. However, you may deplete your mineral levels through sweating when you are active, spending time outdoors on the hot sun, or feeling ill. If you are active or dealing with health issues, you also have higher nutritional demands, hence you need more mineral, amino acids, enzymes, vitamins, and phytonutrients. BioActive Carbons, such as fulvic and humic acids are a fantastic way to replenish healthy mineral levels in your body (10).

BioActive Carbons are a fantastic source of bioactive and organic minerals that can be easily absorbed by your body to be used for cellular repair and restoring health. While you are consuming minerals in your whole foods and possibly from other supplements as well, your body may not be able to fully absorb or use them. BioActive Carbons allow minerals to dissolve into a form that your cells can readily accept and use.

What’s even more impressive about BioActive Carbons is that they can nourish your body with essential minerals you need, they can also bind and release minerals you don’t need. Through other supplements or your diet, you may have excess in some minerals, while you may be deficient in some.

Too much copper, for example, may be toxic, while too much sodium is not healthy either, however, being too low in magnesium or potassium may be detrimental to your health as well. Taking BioActive Carbons may help you to achieve and keep the right mineral balance in your body in order to enhance your health.

Mineral Rich Foods, Top 12 Trace Mineral Rich Foods

Cellular Detoxification

In our modern world, it is nearly impossible to live your life without toxic exposure. Toxins are everywhere, in non-organic processed foods, our water, conventional cleaning and body products, meditations, and air. Even if you are living a healthy lifestyle, eating organic whole foods, and using organic, natural products, you are still exposed to some environmental toxins, and you may have toxic build-up from the time before changing your life to a healthier one.

BioActive Carbons may remove toxins, heavy metals, and other pollutants, such as pesticides you may encounter in the environment or have in your body. Research has shown that fulvic acid may chelate heavy metals, such as mercury, and supplementation may benefit those with heavy metal toxicity. They may even help to remove radioactive particles.

Humic acid has also been shown to break down toxic pesticides and eliminate them from your body. They both may help to remove heavy metals, poisons released from parasites and other pathogens, pesticides, herbicides, environmental pollutants, and toxins from your body’s cellular processes from your body (8, 9, 11, 12, 13).

Penetrates and Energizes Cells

BioActive Carbons are highly energy-available compounds that are easily absorbable and usable by your cells. As you will learn in the next section, they also help your mitochondria to run optimally and to create Adenosine triphosphate, or ATP energy.

Fulvic acid has the ability to boost your energy levels in a variety of ways. Your mitochondria are tiny cellular organs called organelles that can be found inside your cells, including your muscle tissue, nervous system, gut, brain, and heart. These little organelles are responsible to take oxygen and other nutrients from electrons. The energy produced in this process is stored in the form of ATP for your body to break down and use as energy for its processes (14, 15, 16).

Research has shown that fulvic acid also helps to create a healthy electrolyte balance in your cells that further helps to speed up energy production. To sum it up, BioActive Carbons encourage your body to create more energy at a much faster speed than it normally would (17).

mitochondrial health, Mitochondrial Health: 5 Ways to  Improve Cellular Energy

Supports Mitochondria

Consuming BioActive Carbons may increase the oxygen levels of your cell. This can help to improve your mitochondrial function and to produce more ATP energy. Better mitochondrial function and more ATP energy are essential to replace old and damaged cells with new and healthier ones (14, 15, 16).

BioActive Carbons may increase and improve metabolic activities in your cells, including the metabolism of specific proteins that help to create DNA and RNA in your body. Since your body is continuously renewing, cells break down and die, and they need to be replaced by new and healthy cells, mitochondrial function is extremely important in promoting tissue repair and reducing the risk of chronic disease.

Research has shown that Fulvic Acid may have the powerful ability to alleviate inflammation and improve the immune system in your body. It may be able to correct imbalances in your mitochondria, deliver nutrients where it’s needed, and get rid of toxins.

They may be able to regulate your body’s stress response and increase your body’s lifespan by protecting your mitochondria and supplying necessary nutrients and energy to your body (18).  If you are further interested in mitochondrial health, I recommend that you read this article.

mitochondrial health, Mitochondrial Health: 5 Ways to  Improve Cellular Energy

Reduces Oxidative Stress

When the molecules in your body lose an electron they become unstable and oxidation occurs. They unstable molecules are called free radicals. Their goal is to become balanced again by stealing an electron from stable molecules. This means that your cells get attacked by free radicals all the time, which leads to cell damage as well. However, too much of this free radical and oxidative damage is not good and may result in inflammation and disease.

This is when BioActive Carbons come into the picture. BioActive Carbons have the abundance of antioxidant carbon compounds that may help to protect your cells from oxidative damage. They can also donate an electron to free radicals to stop them from taking electrons from your healthy cells. This process helps to stabilize your cells. As a result, they may decrease your risk of chronic inflammation, pain, and disease.

Fulvic acid may be able to help the generation of antioxidant compounds called superperoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione to protect your body from free radical damage and toxicity. By providing an abundance of essential trace minerals, such as magnesium, potassium, calcium, and zinc, BioActive Carbons may also be able to fight oxidative stress, reduce inflammation, lower pain, decrease stress, and reduce the risk of chronic diseases (18, 19).

How To Use

For optimal health benefits, I recommend that you take BioActive Carbons daily. They are safe for long-term use. You can take them with or without food.

As you see, most BioActive Carbons I recommend are capsules, except for CT-Minerals. Follow the directions and dosage information on each supplement bottle. Consult with your healthcare practitioner to understand the proper dosage for your health.

BioActive Carbons

Goal – Detox from Mold, Ammonia and Gut-Induced Endotoxins

If your goal is to detox from mold, ammonia, or gut-induced endotoxins, I highly recommend that you take BioToxin Binder. This supplement contains a special form of carbon that has a greater binding ability. It also contains wild-crafted yucca root and fulvic acid.  It’s formulated specifically to support binding biotoxins like mold, ammonia, and aldehyde systemically.

It is important to note that this supplement is not made out of activated carbon that only binds toxins in your GI system. Instead, it uses long and short chain active carbon molecules, which have the ability to support life.  It is derived from multiple sources of humic acid, fulvic acid, and ulmic acid. The properties used are derivatives from all sources including multiple extracts of polyelectrolytes, polysaccharides, amino acids, and organic acids.

BioToxin Binder also contains broccoli sprout extract to ramp up the NrF2 antioxidant pathway and molybdenum to help with improving sulfur detoxification.

Goal – Detox from Viruses, Chemicals, and Radiation

If your goal is to detox from viruses, chemicals, and radiation, I highly recommend that you try ViRadChem Binder.  This is a bioactive carbon product that supports the detoxification of active viruses as well as environmental chemicals and radiation systematically throughout your body.

Many people have an overabundance of pesticide chemicals, viral infections and heavy radiation exposure from EMF’s and frequent air travel.  This binder is the best for reducing these stressors.  You may use it as a starting foundation for any detox protocol as well as provides great maintenance support.

Goal – Detox from Heavy Metals

If your goal is to detox from heavy metals, I highly recommend HM-ET Binder to you. This product is not from activated charcoal. Instead, to make this supplement long and short chain active carbon molecules were used, which have the ability to support life.

It is derived from multiple sources of humic acid and fulvic acid. The properties used are derivatives from all sources including multiple extracts of polyelectrolytes, polysaccharides, amino acids, and organic acids.  This works gently to support proper mineralization and detoxification of unwanted metals.

Goal – Mineralization and Cell Energy

If your goal is the mineralization of your body and cell energy, I highly recommend CT-Minerals. The heart of this BioActive Carbon supplement is the naturally occurring, highly refined and naturally chelated extracts of fulvic acid. This means ultra small-sized and ultra-low-molecular-weight 100% organically complexed nano-sized negatively charged ionic molecules which can penetrate human tissue and blood cells easily.

Because of these unique properties, this supplement is highly bioactive and can provide numerous biochemical and metabolic detoxification functions. It also contains over 70 naturally occurring, plant-derived trace element minerals and twelve amino acids in an unaltered ionic solution.

Dr Jockers Recommendations

I really like using CT-Minerals on a daily basis. Additionally, I would cycle the BioToxin Binder, ViRadChem Binder, and HM-ET Binder each month for whole body detoxification support.

If you feel like you need to emphasize the elimination of mold, viruses and radiation or heavy metals you can spend a 3–6 months on one specific binder without any problems.  You may also try my approach for full body detoxification support.

  1. I get herxes from all binders so far. (clay, zeolite, micronized zeolite, cholestyramine). Would these products cause a herx? My elimination organs are extremely weak so I can’t mobilize too much.

  2. Thank you for all your informative articles! Do you think that BioActive Carbon can help to get rid off (or lower the viral load of) the HBV ( chronic) & Delta?! Thanks

  3. Which BioActive Carbon product would you recommend for general body detox, reduction in inflammation, and restoring digestive health/dysbiosis? Thank you.

  4. Hello Dr Jockers! I’m on a ketogenic diet Since March and I’ve lost 34 kilograms, I have to lose other 50 kilograms, now I’ve began with high blood preassure I think I have to detoxify all the toxins that are delivered from adipose tissue. What do you recommend me to do a whole detoxifing proccess? All the products that you have written in the article? How I would have them? What is the order? How long? I live in Spain May I order them?
    Thank you very much
    Vicky

    1. Yes you can order these Vicky!

I would take the Kidney & Liver Detox and the Lymphatic Detox and the ViRadChem the first 2 months. Continue with the Kidney & Liver and the Lymphatic and do the BioToxin Binder instead of the VirRadChem for 2 months and then switch out the HM-ET Binder for the BioToxin Binder and do that for 8 months.

  5. Hi. I’ve been taking bioactive carbon to detoxify from mold. I’ve noticed I’ve been losing some weight in the process. Is this normal?

  6. How long would you recommend someone to take these? And do you know of the success rate on the effects of autism? I have watched all 5 of my kids have a signs of vaccination injury, in one form or another. And it is now bleeding over into there adult years.

    1. Sorry to hear that! Yes bioactive carbons work fantastic for neurodevelopmentally challenged individuals. Very good at pulling out metals and other toxins and remineralizing the body and improving mitochondrial energy production.

  7. Hello Dr. Jockers,
Using your guidelines and supplements, I have embarked on a parasite cleanse & detox. I am using Mimosa Pudica, VirRadChem, occasional Activated Charcoal and an anti parasitic herb….going slowly as I have a very sensitive system (so grateful for your dosing guidelines for sensitive individuals).
Since I started my regimen, I occasionally break out in areas of redness/warmth: my face, inner side of knees and top of feet. These are the areas where I have had chronic symptoms: sinus pain, swollen achy knees and stiffness of toes. I am wondering if such redness episodes are common during a parasite cleanse/detox process and, if indeed, the redness might be a sign of where I may actually have parasites and toxin buildup. The red areas have a mild burn/itch quality. Should I continue my supplement regimen as is? Anything I should add or change? Thank you very much!

    1. Hey Beth, this is typically a sign of toxicity in the system. Particularly from glyphosate and possibly heavy metals. I would recommend switching from the VirRadChem to the Bioactive Carbon MetChem which is a stronger binder and can pull out the glyphosate and heavy metals. I would do 1 cap – 3x daily for the first week and move up to 2 caps – 3x daily. Use the coupon code Jockers10 to save 10% on your orders. https://store.drjockers.com/products/bioactive-carbon-metchem

      1. Dear Dr. Jockers,
Thank you very much for your response and guidance, including how to dose! I am very grateful to you!
I am understanding more and more that even with a healthy diet, lifestyle and green home environment, our bodies still struggle to cope with toxins and need extra support.
        Thanks so much!
(Have just ordered the MetChem….Ty also for the coupon)
